Fathers Day

Teaching Notes

This weekend we paused our regular verse by verse teaching through the book of Acts to honor dads and father figures with a special Father’s Day message, Lessons from a Spiritual Father. We were reminded that fatherhood isn’t just a social construct—it’s a divine calling. Whether you’re a biological dad, adoptive dad, stepdad, or spiritual father, God has placed a mantle of leadership and influence on your life that carries weight now and for eternity.

We looked at the Apostle Paul, who though he never had biological children, poured his life into spiritual sons like Timothy and Titus. From his final letter to Timothy, we saw the heart of a true father figure—one who prays faithfully for his children, calls out their God-given potential, and warns them of the dangers that lie ahead. Paul also modeled a life worth following, inviting Timothy close enough to see his faith lived out in both trials and victories. And through it all, he leaned on God’s grace, showing us that fatherhood is not about perfection but about faithfully walking in the strength the Lord provides.

The challenge for us is clear: start today. Whether you feel like you’ve fallen short or you’re thriving, God’s grace meets you right where you are. Fatherhood is costly, but its rewards ripple into eternity.
